Preparing your child for flying
The earlier you can start flying with children the easier it will become. By introducing children to flying through story books, helping them spot airplanes in the sky will help to develop their awareness about flying. If you travel frequently for work or business talk about your flying in a positive form with your children.

The following list of items can help start to prepare and settle your child for flying, the more time you can provide the better prepared they will be.
• Start to talk about your trip with your children
• Have your little one, draw pictures of the plane they will be travelling on.
• Create a diary or calendar for your little one to mark off the days before their trip.
• Spot planes in the sky and your little ones know that they will be drinking orange juice up there as well!
• Read children’s books that may incorporate a travel theme.

Some Airlines are now providing Air Nannies services on long haul flights, to date we do know of Gulf Air who offer this service.

Airlines run course for nervous flyers
If your children can sense fear from you it may become a nervous experience for all. If your a nervous traveller, why not call around a few of global airlines and ask about booking into one of their nervous flying classes. A majority of good airlines run these courses several times a year, they are great way for nervous travellers to help overcome their fear of air travel.

Crew
Its a real shame that world events have changed the face of flying as most of us can remember the fascination and excitement of visiting the cockpit and seeing the captain and his crew. Your second best option, is have quite word to one of crew if you are long haul flight and ask if the captain is taking a few minutes out to visit some of passengers if he could visit a few new flyers. The majority of crew on flights are great with kids, and will go out of their to make sure the kids are happy. Happy and content children on flight means happy and content passengers around the children.

It really points to miles
If you a paying for ticket that your children are eligible to earn frequent flyer miles on, why not join! Your children might be able to one day redeem their miles for flight, or better still some latest gadget that they can stick in their ears!
