Kids light up, Fireworks show

July 4, 2008

Kids and firework showsTravelling with your kids to see a firework show can be an exciting event however you need mindful it might become scary for young kids.

How to watch the fireworks with young children
I remember clearly the first time we took our son who was 18 months at the time to watch the fireworks with other families in the area. The fireworks were fantastic however our little became scared when the first bang went off he quivered and tucked in under his mums arms. At the end of the show he thought it was great, even though he thought he was scared of the fireworks.

Our son was not alone in this experience one of my earliest memories of fireworks was reacting the same way, I was petrified but intrigued.

Here are some tips to help you and your family and kids watch and enjoy your local firework show.

1. Check out your local paper r correct times for the family and kids fireworks show.

2. If you have young ones who haven’t seen fireworks before reassure them about fireworks and the noise they will make.

3. Try making fun of the sounds of the fireworks i.e. Say “Ba Boom Ba Boom” what sound do the fireworks make “Ba Boom Ba Boom”

4. Travel to the event early to secure spot for your family and kids to watch the fireworks.

5. If your child is scared of the show, talk to your child calmly and reassure them that it’s ok to watch.

6. If your kid is hysterical, remove them from the area and take them to spot where they will feel secure, but still can see a glimpse.

7. If travelling by car to the event, think carefully about where you are parking. As it could become gridlocked when everyone wants to leave at the same time.

Finally, Happy 4th of July to our American friends from Little Nomads.
