Family left stranded by Airline

July 25, 2008

Disaster Family Holidays

Reflecting on a story that was highlighted yesterday, Qantas was in its full rights to refuse the toddler from flying, who was in the care of a child being only 14 years old.

However I can understand the confusion from the families’ point of the view you would think that if you purchased an adult ticket you would be governed by the rules.

This brings me back to an earlier post on little nomads’ common mistakes that travellers make. It’s really important when booking a ticket that you understand the rules and conditions of your travel. It’s also important to know that these rules will vary from some Airlines and even on certain routes.

For example on Qantas a child can be accompanied by a 15 year old minor under the age of 5 on Domestic flights, but on International flights this moves to age of 6.

Have you all has your family been affected by a simple traveller’s mistake? Or a misunderstanding in the rules of travel let us know with a comment.
