Do you have travel insurance? “Not Yet”. Why Not? ” I’m not going to far away destination”. Wrong Answer.
Selection of Travel Insurance specialists
Travel insurance is more important item on your trip, more than a fresh pair of underwear. Without having adequate travel insurance you are leaving the gates open to become another victim, of “I never thought it would happen to me” syndrome.
What to look for in travel insurance
Below is a list of questions you need to be asking your self when reading the terms and conditions of the insurance policy. If you find it difficult in understanding the terms and conditions, call the company direct and ask them straight out. “If I get an injury caused by taking a the rides in a theme park, will my medical expenses be covered?”
* Does it cover Adrenalin based activities - skydiving, skiing, snowboarding
* Does it cover activities in theme parks like rides
* Can I claim for late departures that result in missing contacting flights
* If I have a car accident, does my insurance cover the excess.
FYI, the terms and conditions are written for two reasons, 1st is to insure that the provider and receiver have a legal agreement on what will be covered and what will not, and 2nd they are written in a way to protect the insurance company against consumers who are fraudulent and trying to make false claims or make positive gains from the insurance claims. So if you think you claim a new camera because you don’t like the new one you purchased in the duty free, your picking travel insurance for the wrong reason, and the companies will black mark you for future claims. Its advisable that you don’t become a Peter and the wolf, as one day you may truly need the insurance but find it difficult to claim as you have been marked from the past.
My Credit Card has insurance
You may be the owner of American Express, Citi Card or other type of credit card that comes packaged with travel insurance as part of your annual fees, and the high interest rates you pay for the card. Though how aware are you of the conditions of the travel insurance, does it cover accidents in rental cars, does it cover an accident that happens while your game fishing of the Mexico coastline. Its advisable to contact your card provider to go over your cover, as you might be surprised to find some things are not covered which are the norm with most insurance on travel.
Avoid Purchasing at the Airports
We only say avoid purchasing at the airport as your actually going to be paying a lot more for your travel insurance. One of the most sensible ways to purchase your insurance is online and direct with the insurance companies website. Travel insurance is often marked up in travel areas, like airports, ticket counters, travel agents etc as the seller will make healthy commission levels from selling to consumer on their last minute need to secure insurance before stepping on the plane.
