New York Family Holidays

Famously known as "the city that never sleeps", New York City is full of endless family adventures with fantastic parks, museums, restaurants and shops catering to the young and young-at-heart's every whim.

With towering sky-scrapers, bright lights and bustling streets, New York is much more than a city - it also has beautiful parks and even beaches!  Travelling around is easy via taxi, but adventurous families will enjoy the famous New York Subway.

With so much to see and do, make sure you plan your trip before you go to make the most of your visit.  New York can be expensive but does not need to be.  If you do your research, it's easy to pick up some insider tricks such as finding the best $2 hot dog, and loads of free things to do - Central Park, Staten Island Ferry and taking in the bright lights of Times Square to name just a few!

Families Will Love

  • Central Park - no visit to New York would be complete without a trip to Central Park.  A taste of the countryside smack-bang in the middle of the city, inside the park you can visit the Children's Zoo, Carousel and Petting Zoo.
  • Coney Island - operating over the warmer months between Easter and Halloween, Coney Island is a New York City neighbourhood with amusement area featuring over 50 rides and attractions.  Did you know that Coney Island is also the birth-place of the hot dog?!
  • Statue of Liberty - over a 120 years old and originally a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, the Statue of Liberty is the ultimate symbol of freedom and democracy, and also a great family outing!  Catch the ferry to Liberty Island from Battery Park, or get an up-close view of the Statue of Liberty for free from the Staten Island Ferry.
  • Empire State Building - a highlight of New York City's skyline and reaching 1,250 feet above the city, experience stunning views of the city and beyond from the top of one of the most famous landmarks in the world.
  • Times Square - a destination in itself, the whole family will have fun seeing all the bright lights and also visiting places such as Ripley's Believe it or Not, Madam Tussaud's, and the Hershey's Store. Visit in the evening to get the most out of the bright lights!
  • Museum of Natural History - overlooking Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest and most celebrated museums in the world.  Millions of specimens of plants, animals, fossils, rocks, meteorites and human artifacts will keep kids entertained for hours.  Popular tours include the Dino Tour, Night at the Museum Tour, and the Earth and Space Tour.
