Oxford - Holidays with kids

One of England’s most interesting cities housing the oldest university in the English speaking world has a compact centre so you can enjoy walking, finding things of beauty and historic interest around every corner. Amongst the 38 university colleges are many with beautiful historic buildings clustered around elegant “quads” and immaculate gardens – you will be amazed that you are in the middle of a bustling city. You will also find interesting churches, some with towers to climb, a meandering covered market housing unique and interesting small shops.

Tourists are very well catered for in Oxford with excellent guided tours and some of the best trained guides in the country. Access is easy from London by road or train and if you are based in Oxford without a car you will find the local bus system is extensive and easy to use to visit the many interesting and historic sites nearby.

  • Oxford Castle – 1000 years of history, murder, romance, betrayal, escape and execution
  • The ice skating rink – everyone enjoys skating and this can be good exercise if there is a rainy day

  • Cotswold Wildlife Park - animals lovers will love getting up close with the big cats and giraffes.  Ride the train and see beautiful gardens as well.
